One of our Members, Ruth Scharley, has some very welcome news:
Our new KKA fauna education boards are an exciting initiative designed to promote the work of Friends Groups while sparking interest in our parklands and encouraging new members to get involved!
Developed by Vicki Scrivenger and Graham Ross, these posters feature: the Rakali, Rainbow Lorikeet, Tawny Frogmouth and Gang-gang Cockatoo – celebrating some of our most distinctive local wildlife and inviting visitors to pause, learn and connect with Nature. Many details in the Tawny Frogmouth poster were contributed by R. Ault and a number of the photos chosen for the series were taken by Ian Moodie.
Each board is free! Vicki is happy to assist with installing these corflute posters across parklands and reserves to help attract attention and build community awareness. High-traffic areas such as walking tracks, playgrounds, picnic spots and entrances to reserves are ideal locations to maximise visibility and impact.
It’s also wonderful to hear positive feedback from a visitor involved in the Merri-bek Dog Walking project, who is keen to build on our ideas for their Green Links signage program. (Merri-bek was formerly known as the City of Moreland).
We warmly welcome feedback: What do you think of the new corflutes? What other themes or species would you like to see developed in the future?
Let’s work together to bring our parklands to life and grow our Friends community!
