Funding Success

Melbourne Water funded Stormwater Review

The KooyongKoot Alliance (KKA) is delighted to advise that it has secured grant funding from Melbourne Water for our Catchment Keeper, Graham Ross, to carry out a Stormwater Review of the Gardiners Creek Catchment. A significant focus will be on the stormwater management with a particular emphasis on the planning scheme. The project will primarily be a “Lit Review” type project with a roadmap of actions for stakeholders including Councils and Community Groups to progress over time.

Work has already started with meetings with Vicinity Centres (owners of Chadstone – Australia’s number one shopping centre by retail sales) amongst others. The project will allow the KKA to get a deeper exposure in Government and in the commercial/corporate sector. We all need to see the value in our catchment and to take ownership. Project funding will total $40,000 over the next 9 months.

Simpson Construction

We also would like to say a huge thank you to Simpson Construction who have generously  supported the KooyongKoot alliance to the tune of $10,000. We are especially delighted because Simpson Construction has a big environmental focus, is revegetating 300 acres of habitat in the Strzelecki region in South Gippsland and is delivering some important projects such as the St Kilda Pier and tourist facilities at the Twelve Apostles. Simpson Construction is also a supporter of many other community groups including First Nations Groups.

Others

We thank the many other organisations that have supported us financially through grants or donations – as well as corporate planting days… all are vital in helping us do the work we do.
