The KooyongKoot Alliance and Gardiners Creek Regional Collaboration are excited to say that a significant state-level announcement for biodiversity for the KooyongKoot (Gardiners) Creek Catchment – will be made between 1 and 1.30 pm on 15th October by Matt Fregon, State member for Ashwood, representing the Minister for Water at Markham Reserve Ashwood.
Following this Graham Ross, the KooyongKoot Catchment Keeper and other local groups will be hosting a walk and talk at the Markham Reserve Biodiversity site with community members, including Collaboration Lead Neil Sutton, Councillors and Gardiners Creek Regional Collaboration stakeholders.
This event is an opportunity to:
- be the first to hear about the announcement
- see how quickly properly-prepared and planted biodiversity sites can develop
- discover what a micro-forest looks like
- understand how the Markham plantings came about, their value, and the potential for further such sites in Boroondara and other LGAs
- talk about biodiversity with Councillors and stakeholders
- discuss ongoing external funding opportunities.
Please arrive at 12:50 to ensure you don’t miss the announcement.
We are hoping for a strong turnout to show the community cares about greening our KooyongKoot and beyond, and for protecting and enhancing biodiversity. 🪲🐛🐟🌳
