Dr. Carina Garland, MP for the Federal Electorate of Chisholm, with the help of Matt Fregon MP (State Member for Ashwood) hosted this year’s Caroline Chisholm Awards ceremony at the Mount Waverley Community Centre. The many people who attended were treated to a wonderful performance of Hadyn by members from the Cloud Concert Youth Orchestra at the commencement of the evening.

Fantastic Support for Our Local Friends Groups

Within the Alliance, Vicki wears many hats. While KKA is made up of numerous distinct Friends groups —each helping to regenerate to their own walking tracks, creeks, and parks — Vicki works in the field with some and has provided support for several others. She also coordinated the Marketing & Communications Subcommittee from late August 2025 to late October 2026 and did a great job opening up lines of communication with member groups.

In a short space of time, she has made contact and friendships with friends’ groups, authoring articles and creating beautiful fauna posters which are being used for public education in the parks and by KKA on community planting days and so much more. She is also a member of two friends’ groups in her local area.

Carrying on a Legacy of Care

The award is named in honour of Caroline Chisholm (1808–1877), one of Australia’s most legendary historic volunteers and social reformers, who dedicated her life to building supportive networks for others.

By receiving this award at the Mount Waverley Community Centre ceremony, Vicki joins a proud tradition of local heroes. Just as Caroline Chisholm worked tirelessly to create a stronger foundation for her community, Vicki’s dedication to environmental advocacy builds a bridge of education, protection, and climate action for our communities.

This award isn’t just recognition for Vicki; it is a celebration for the entire KKA family. It serves as a beautiful reminder of the power of grassroots action and dependable leadership.

Please join us in giving a massive congratulations to Vicki Scrivenger!

Thank you, Vicki, for all you have done for the KKA!
